taking me home…

Sometimes we catch a snap shot moment of some else’s life, today I caught a brief moment of someone else’s love. An elderly lady brushed past me in the shop, her face anxious, her eyes confused. She silently shuffled past me, confused about her. destination, waiting for help.

Suddenly I saw an arm reach out and gently turn her round. An elderly chap, face awash with relief tenderly took her hand in his and silently he stroked her cheek. “She gets confused,” he murmured “she wasn’t always like this.”

Then he turned, wrapping one arm round her middle and holding her fingers tight in the other; “let’s go my lovely,” he gently whispered in her ear. Then they went, walking away, two bodies so close together they merged into one as the distance grew between us.

I was touched by sorrow and beauty from this vision of true love. However if my mind succumbs to the hardships of age I look forward he who helped create them to taking my hand and leading me home.

This has made me cry, I fear this happening because I know that there is nothing I can do to prevent it. Thanks for sharing.

That is love – who needs the flowers, the diamonds, the romantic gestures, when all you need is someone who will always take you home x

This makes me nearly cry, my Grampy is very unwell at the moment and my granny is doing just that looking after him. They have been married over 60 years and the odd twder moment they have makes me sad but hopeful I might get that. One is never without the other and I worry what will happen when one of them dies they are the same person and we should cherish those moments we see of moments of affection :)

She is lucky to have someone so supportive of her. AD would nag me constantly to pull myself together. He has no compassion!

Such a thought provoking moment. My mother is battling dementia at the moment – Dad rang yesterday to say she’s taken all of her clothes to the charity shop as she’s going to be dead by tomorrow so she doesn’t need them anymore. It’s so sad when age catches up with you.

Very sad but how lovely how much they live each other. I hope I have that when I am old old.
